Domestic Violence
A Woman's Place (AWP) offers comprehensive assistance
to victims of domestic violence. Adults and children in crisis are assisted
in gaining control of their lives and in seeking a healthy environment free
from abuse and violence. They are given information and counseling and are
supported in making their own decisions about their lives. The services of
A Woman's Place are:

remedies.
Medical Advocacy

medical settings and to provide information to health care personnel.
Safe Emergency and Transitional Housing
Adults and children escaping domestic violence situations may stay on
an emergency basis, for a few days or up to 6-8 weeks, depending on their
needs. This time is used to begin the healing process and to make decisions
about the future. Some women need shelter and support for a longer period
of time while they gather the resources or develop the skills needed to
live independently. Qualifying women and children may participate in the
Families in Transition program.

child care, economic support, substance abuse problems, and similar needs.
Counseling is also available for people in the community who have

also available.
