Prospective VolunteersVolunteers at RCS play a crucial role in the functioning of our crisis hotline and medical advocacy program. Training is held twice a year, and we need female and male volunteers. Training for new volunteers will begin soon. Call now for details on volunteering! HOTLINEThe crisis hotline is in service 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. The goal of the hotline advocate is to provide information and support to the caller, to listen and empower them during a time of crisis or to call medical advocates to meet with a victim at an emergency room. MEDICAL ADVOCACYMedical advocates are available 24 hours 7 days a week to respond to calls from hospitals and police stations. Their role is to advocate for the victim during procedures, to explain and inform, support decisions made by the victim and be sure that the victim's needs are being met. They are also there to give support and information for significant others that may be with the victim. OFFICE SUPPORTRape Crisis also offers volunteers an opportunity to assist at the RCS office. This position helps out a few hours a week and does not require the 40 hours of specialized training. If you have special skills you'd like to use for the betterment of your community, please call us. PROFESSIONAL SERVICESRCS and A Woman's Fund are currently in need of people who are willing to volunteer their time providing professional services to our programs.
